Garbage disposal

Please place your waste in the containers in the yard. Always close the lids, as garbage may attract rodents.
The disposal procedure is a bit complicated, so our short-term guests (< 3 nights) may dispose their humid waste in container “Madaffald” - and leave the rest fx paper, cardboard, glass etc. to the cleaning lady.

Safety

Emergency phone number: 112. Tell the operator the reason for your call: Medical, Fire or Police. 

There is a smoke detector with a long-lasting battery to the left of the ladder to the upper bed. If it sends out high beeps, the battery must be removed: turn the cover anti-clockwise, remove battery, and alert kb.priv@mac.com*.
If a fire develops in the apartment, use the fire extinguisher in the kitchen area. There are also fire extinguishers (and smoke detectors) on the outside staircase.

If a smoke/fire is detected below your floor, keep calm and alert the firefighters in the yard from the window (the fire station is close by). They bring ladders for evacuation. Always follow the direction of local officials (police, firefighters).
Note that the attic can be used as an emergency exit: Fetch the apartment key, walk up the outside staircase and use the apartment key to the attic. It has firedoors installed. Follow the hallway (your cell phone may be handy for light). You’ll arrive at a metal firedoor that gives you access to the neighbouring attic. From there you evacuate to the street.

A First aid box is in a drawer below the bathroom sink. If you use it, please alert kb.priv@mac.com*, so that I can refill it.

Extra heating in Winter? There is an el.heater in the cabinet above the W.C.

Getting around, and groceries

Nørreport Station is the major transportation hub in Copenhagen with connections by train, underground and bus to all destinations in the greater Copenhagen area. It’s only 150 meters from the apartment right across the Northern end of Fiolstræde, please see the map.

The closest supermarkets are Netto (8:00-22:00) 100 meters South on Fiolstræde, and ‘365’ (8:00-21:00) 150 meters North on Nørre Voldgade. There is also a 7-Eleven on Nørre Voldgade at the corner of Nørregade (open around the clock), please see the maps. You'll find a large number of shops, banks, bars and restaurants around the block. In fact, the old city abounds with eating places within easy walking distance.
